Request for NOTAM Issue

A NOTAM is required to be originated whenever the information to be disseminated is of a temporary nature (less than 90 days) or when operationally significant permanent changes or temporary changes of long duration are made at short notice.

A NOTAM may only be used to promulgate information for up to 90 days.

If the information to be published in a NOTAM is to remain effective for more than 90 days, or is a permanent change, please forward the request directly to Aeronautical Information Management (AIM):

NOTAM Type

Insert one of the following message identifiers as appropriate:

NOTAMN if it concerns a NOTAM containing new information
NOTAMR if it concerns a NOTAM replacing a previous NOTAM
NOTAMC if it concerns a NOTAM cancelling a previous NOTAM

NOTAMR and NOTAMC must be followed by the series and number/year of the cancelled NOTAM e.g. A0123/14.

Location - Item A)

The location of the activity which is the subject of the NOTAM to be issued. Insert either 'NZZC' for the NZ FIR, or the ICAO Location Indicator.

Valid From Time - Item B)

Ten-figure date-time group (yymmddhhmm) representing year, month, day, hour and minute at which the NOTAM comes into force, e.g.

1401260400 for 26 January 2014, 0400

When the Valid From Time is input, use the dropdown list to specify if it is expressed in Local time or UTC.

Valid To Time - Item C)

Ten-figure date-time group (yymmddhhmm) representing year, month, day, hour and minute at which the NOTAM expires. For NOTAM of uncertain duration of validity, the date-time group shall be followed by 'EST' (estimate). Examples:

1401180100 for 18 January 2014, 0100
1402282300 EST for 28 February 2014, 2300 (estimate)

When the Valid To Time is input, use the dropdown list to specify if it is expressed in Local time or UTC.

This Item must be left blank for NOTAMC.

Daily Schedule - Item D)

This item, if included, contains the specified schedule or period(s) during which an occurrence takes place. This field is optional and need only be completed as and when required e.g.

DAILY 0800-1700

When a Daily Schedule value is input, use the dropdown list to specify if it is expressed in Local time or UTC.

NOTAM Text - Item E)

The NOTAM text contains information on the hazard, status of operation or condition of the facilities reported on. Abbreviations listed in NZ AIP Planning Manual Gen10 may be used where appropriate.

Lower Limit - Item F)

This information is applicable to navigation warnings and airspace restrictions and shows the lower limit of the activity. Units of measurement and reference datum should be included e.g.

SFC
1500FT AGL
7500FT AMSL
FL150

Upper Limit - Item G)

This information is applicable to navigation warnings and airspace restrictions and shows the upper limit of the activity. Units of measurement and reference datum should be included e.g.

1500FT AGL
7500FT AMSL
FL150
